Image & Design: Study the Show Floor plan and Identify Traffic Patterns to Plan Your Booth Location

  1. Ask show management about the typical traffic flow pattern.  
  2.  Familiarize yourself with the floor plan and different space possibilities for your trade show booth. 
    1. Aisle/in-line/linear
      Characteristics:
      • One side faces the aisle and three sides connect to other trade show exhibits.
      • Normally 10' deep and 10'- 60' long.
       
    2. Cross-aisle
      Characteristics:
      • Two aisle spaces opposite one another.
      • Normally 10' deep and 30'- 60' long.
       
    3. Peninsula
      Characteristics:
      • Surrounded by aisle space on three sides and connected on one side to other booths.
      • Suggested minimum depth is 20'.
       
    4. Island
      Characteristics:
      • Surrounded on all four sides by aisles.
      • Required minimum size is 20' x 20' (400 sq. ft.)
       
     
  3. Locate and consider how close you want to be to the following:
    • Entrances
    • Exits
    • Registration area
    • Restrooms
    • Food service areas
    • Escalators/elevators
    • Corner locations
    • Windows
    • Press office
    • Seminar sites
    • Power, water & air sources
    • Competitors
     
  4. Avoid the following areas:
    • Obstructing columns
    • Low ceilings
    • Dark/poorly lit areas
    • Ceiling water pipes
    • Dead-end aisles
    • Loading docks & freight doors
    • Late set-up areas
    • "Black spots" on the floor plan
