Image & Design: Evaluate Your Needs to Make Appropriate Updates to Your Display

Depending on the results of an open and honest evaluation (see related articles below), there are several options when considering an update to your trades show exhibit space.

A. Refurbishment
Refurbishment of existing properties can be as simple as a thorough cleaning and repair of parts and pieces that are not fully operational. If a roll of duct tape is required at every set-up, chances are you need to start here! Your exhibit house can assist you as they will have access to materials that might be needed.

B. Graphics Update
Designing and producing new graphics is a great way to give your trade show booth a facelift. Outdated graphics can inaccurately depict your brand if it has evolved over time. Logos change, products change and we forget that our booth graphics are outdated until we set up at the next event. Remember to tell your graphic designer to keep text to a minimum and use graphics to identify, create impact and get attendees to pause, stop, or ask a question.

One more tip: to extend the life of your graphics, avoid using timely images like cell phones or other technology that can become easily dated.

C. Reconfiguration
Many modular exhibits, large and small, can be easily reconfigured to freshen the look and sometimes the overall layout. Thanks to expanding rental inventories, you can add on to an existing exhibit with graphics structures, storage and furniture. Again, by working with your exhibit house, you might be able to take a look at a few line drawings without having to set everything up.

D. Makeover
A makeover is the last step before considering a totally new exhibit. With a makeover we might keep the basic structure but change the colors, graphics, branding, and lighting to present an all-new look. Your Nimlok Consultant can work with you to prepare a cost-to-benefit analysis to determine if this option makes sound financial sense.

E. Start over
When all is said and done, a new exhibit constructed from lighter, greener materials might be the answer to achieving a new look. Before you toss the old exhibit, investigate ways to sell it, or consider donating it to a favorite non-profit.

Summary
Only through asking questions of yourselves and others can you complete an honest self-evaluation to arrive at the right solution. As you can see, on virtually any budget you can enhance your experience and that of your attendees on the show floor.
